Today is set aside as a national holiday to honor and pay tribute to moms…and
rightfully so!
*INTRODUCTION
A Mother’s Day Card
“Mom, I can’t imagine what life would be like without you. I’d probably be eating candy I
got from a stranger, talking with my mouth full, and waving around sharp objects while I
sit too close to the TV in yesterday’s underwear.”
*What My Mother Taught Me
 My mother taught me to live the spiritual life: When I spilled grape juice on the
carpet, she said, “You’d better pray that stain comes out of the carpet.”
 My mother taught me logic: From her decisive words, “Because I said so.”
 My mother taught me foresight: “Don’t ever wear dirty underwear in case you get in
a car wreck.”
 My mother taught me irony: “Keep laughing, and I’ll give you something to cry
about.”
 My mother taught me about stamina: “You’ll sit there until the vegetable is gone.”
 My mother taught me about weather: “It looks as if a tornado swept through your
room.”
 My mother taught me to envy: “There are millions of less fortunate children in this
world who are hungry, so eat all your food.”
 My mother taught me the cycle of life: “I brought you into this world, and I can just as
surely take you out of it.”
Today, I want to broaden the focus and address the subject of Womanhood.
*MESSAGE THEME: To understand God’s original design in His creation of women.
 There is much effort to sow confusion regarding the sexes and gender.
 The famous question asked of prospective Supreme Court Justice nominee Ketanji
Brown Jackson by Senator Marsha Blackburn, to define “woman,” was met with the
response, “I can’t… Not in this context. I’m not a biologist.”
 We will assume that those of us in this room can define what a woman is.
 So, let’s address the issue of God’s original design for women.
