THEOLOGY OF CHANGE
- While God does not change… he is the ultimate agent of change.
- “God is the unmoved mover.”
Malachi 3:6 (NKJV) “For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
James 1:17 (NKJV) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
*Kingdom Movement
- God’s kingdom is one of movement and change.
- He initiates and directs the shifting of world empires.
- God orchestrated the changes in the centuries preceding Jesus’s incarnation to prepare the world for the birth and advancement of His Church.
- God is currently preparing a world for the return of Jesus.
- So much of what we see in the world right now—from political events to technology and more—is God bringing His purposes to fruition—and that includes change!
*The Christian Life
- When we understand the Christian life, it is about change.
- It is about change in repentance, regeneration, conversion, transformation, sanctification, etc.—it is all about change!
- While we can embrace the reality of spiritual change, we often have a more difficult time with change to our circumstances and relationships.
The Conflict
- We often resist when God disrupts our physical circumstances, relationships, or traditions in His movement and purposes.
CASE STUDY: JESUS, HIS DISCIPLES, AND CHANGE
