Harborview Fellowship School of the Arts (HFSA) exists as a ministry of Harborview Fellowship Church to train students in the performing arts with an encouraging and Christ-centered environment.
Students will be introduced to the beginning of rhythm and sound as a form of dance. We will learn basic tap steps and terminology. An emphasis will be placed on practicing rhythm and beats as a group. Age: 4-6 year olds
Creative Movement
Creative Movement: Preschool students will explore movement through dance in this 30-minute class. Age: 3-5 year olds
Show Tunes Performance
This class is perfect for kids who love singing along to their favorite movies like Annie, Mary Poppins, Lion King, and more…In this class we will learn how to sing show tunes with drama, flair, and simple choreography. Age: 10+ years
Pre-Ballet
Preschool students will be introduced to basic ballet fundamentals including: positions, steps, and terminology. There will be an emphasis on fun to excite their interest in ballet. Age: 4-6 year olds
Ballet 1, Ballet 2
Beginning dancers will develop grace, flexibility and balance while learning basic ballet positions, steps, and vocabulary. Ballet 1: Age 6+ Ballet 2: Age 8+
Lyrical Dance
Lyrical is a stylized class based in ballet technique and focuses on telling a story through movement. Age: 8+
Musical Theatre 1 & 2
Musical Theatre is a fun, fast paced class teaching group choreography and jazz techniques. Musical Theater 1: Age: 8+ Musical Theater 2: Teacher Approval Required
Beginning Ukulele
In this class, students will learn the notes on a ukulele and many chords. They will learn how to read chord charts and play songs together. We will play rhythm games to enhance rhythm skills and strumming ability. Instruments not provided Age: 7+ year olds
Tap 1, 2, and 3
The focus of this energetic class is rhythm and percussion. Students will learn basic tap vocabulary and steps as they practice putting them together to music. Tap 2 & 3 continue learning for older students Age: 6+, 8+, by teacher approval
Beginning and Intermediate Band
Beginning band: Students will learn the basics of reading music and playing a brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument. No prior music experience necessary. Students will have the opportunity to hear and learn about the various instrument options at an interest meeting before the start of classes. Instruments not provided Age: 10+ Intermediate band: this class is for students with one or more years of experience playing a brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument. Students will continue to progress in proficiency playing their instrument, reading music, and music theory. Instruments not provided Age: 11+
Drama
Will introduce students to acting and character development through beginning scene work. Students learn to become characters by asking the Who, What, When, Where, Why and How of a character. We will also cover the basics of being on stage including vocabulary, stage direction, and stage presence. Students at this level are encouraged to memorize lines, but not required. Age: 8+
